My prediction came true

Sexual deviancy is a huge problem among Chassidim and the lack of sex education and the fanatical obsession with "Tznius" (irnonically) is the chief culprit.How many child molesters roam our shuls and mikvas? more than you might imagine. How many fathers sexually abuse their young sons and daughters (I know of at least 5 cases). These things happen every day and only rarely does it spill out into the open How many Rebbes sexually abuse their young students? it happens more often than you might think. Sometimes I wonder if the same thing that happened to the Catholic Church won't happen to the Chassidic institutions.

Rabbis of Lakewood creating climate of fear and paranoia
A friend of mine recounted this recent episode.
A friend of his in Lakewood (let's call him Moshe) who happens to be a locksmith publicized an ad i saying that he installs locks on doors to computer rooms "in order to shield your kids from the internet". Moshe recieved dozens of calls from local lakewooders. Some berated him for "going against the Rabbanim" who have completely forbidden the use of the internet. Others asked him if this was just a ploy to ferret out theose who ignored the ban and make them suffer the consenquences....

Lakewood bans internet! see news segment on internet :)

The Charedi community of Lakewood has issued a blanket ban on the internet. The report which was carried on national TV aroused widespread curiosity, anger as well as disgust.
This story is sure to revive the "Caveman" wars (which was sparked when YU rector Rabbi Norman Lamn called the closed minded Lakewooders, cavemen because of their hostility toward modernity).
My personal opinion on the matter is that this ban was made as a last ditch effort by the Rabbis of Lakewood to consolidate their rapidly tenous hold on power in the town. The move may also have been an attempt to dissuade the more modern elements from moving to Lakewood. Lakewood is growing tremendously and the Rabbis and the old guard see their control slipping away before their eyes.
Well Rabbis and Vaad, enjoy your power while you still got it.

Why the Rabbonim "assered" the internet
Now I know why the rabbonim are so against the internet and advanced secular studies i.e. university. Could it be because they are afraid that the rare chossid who knows how to write well in English may expose all the rot and corruption that goes on behind the sea of black coats and side curls? Or perhaps they are afraid that the clueless and unsuspecting young chassid might learn new ideas and realize that many things that are practiced in the community are wrong and immoral perhaps even illegal.
Well, it is happening right now, al apom veal chamosom, Chassidim are climbing out of the woodwork by the dozens, to talk about their traumatic life within the confines of their community.
